HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/05/1970 . MINUTES February 5, 1970 The twenty-seventh regular meeting of the Wheat Ridge City Council was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Albert E. Anderson in the Council meeting room at 7390 West 38 Avenue. Aldermen attending were: Ray C. Pepe, Joseph Donaldson, Robert Howard, Calvin Hulsey and Dana Bowling. Others attending were Mayor Anderson, Clerk Louise Turner, Attorney Henry Nieto, Administrator Walter Johnson, State Representatives George Fentress and John Byerly, State Senator Ruth Stockton and interested citizens. Motion was made by Robert Howard "that Council hire Mr. James O. Mier to be Planning Director for the City of Wheat Ridge at the rate of $775. per monT-h." Motion was seconded by Alderman Donaldson and passed 5-0. Senator Stockton and Representatives Byerly and Fentress discussed Bills pertaining to Dissolution of Special Districts and Rejuve- nation of Streams, the Land Use Bill, Senate Bill Fifty and the four Burch Bills, all of which might effect the citip-s. Ordinance No. 20 An Ordinance pertaining to Nuisances was intro- duced by Alderman Donaldson and read. Motion was made by Alderman Bowling "that Council table Ordinance No. 20 until February 19, 1970.11 Motion was seconded by Alderman Pepe and passed 5-0. Ordinance No.23 setting the Fiscal Year for the City to coincide with the calander year was brought up for second reading. Motion was made by Alderman Howard and seconded by Alderman Donald- son "that Ordinance No. 23 be passed on second and final reading and be ordered published and posted." Motion passed 5-0. Resolution No. 49 was introduced by Alderman Donaldson. Motion was made by Alderman Donaldson IIthat the City provide street lighting to the City in accordance with Resolution No. 49.11 Motion was seconded by Alderman Hulsey and discussed. Council was polled and the motion was denied by a vote of 3-2 with Ald- ermen Bowling, Pepe and Howard voting IInay." Motion was made by Alderman Bowling "that the City of Wheat Ridge pay for the street lighting required by State Statute. II Motion was seconded by Alderman Howard. Motion was made to table the preceeding motion, but died for lack of a second. Council was polled on the motion by Alderman Bowling and motion was defeated 3-2 with Aldermen Donaldson, Hulsey and Pepe voting IInay." Motion was made by Alderman Bowling "that the Engineer be author- ized to proceed to deal with the County to reach a satisfactory solution on the Robb Street drainage problem.1I Motion was seconded by Alderman Pcpe and passed 5-0.
