February 17, 1970
A meeting called for the purpose of hearing three rezon:ngs and one
subdivision platting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor
Albert E. Anderson in the Wheat Ridge Council meetinQ rlJom at
7390 West 38 gvenue.
Aldermen attending were: Ray C. Pepe, Dana Bowling, Jack W. Bramble,
Joseph Donaldson, Robert Howard and Calvin Hulsey.
Others attending were Mayor Anderson, Clerk Louise Turner, City
Attorney Maurice Fox, Administrator Walter Johnson, applicants for
rezonings and their representatives and citizens.
Case WZ-69-8 Case was continued from February 3, 1970. Applicants
were represented by Attorney George Holley in a request for a change
from 1-3 to C-l in order to extend adjacent C-l zoning for B motel
site at 49 Avenue and Independence Street.
Motion was made by Alderman Pepe "that in the Case of WZ-69-B, the
request for a change from 1-3 to C-I be granted because it is an
upgrading of the zoning and it conforms with adjacent C-I zoning
to the west." Motion was seconded by Alderman Donaldson and passed
6-0.
Applewood Knolls Eleventh Filing Cee8 was continued from February 3,
1970 and February 10, 1970. Owners Mr. Mike Leprino and Mr. Anthony
Dursey and Engineer Emmett Lane were present.
A letter was read from Mr. A.F. Williams stating that the Park Com-
mission recommended that the City accept lot #21 of the subdivision
for park land.
Questions pertaining to a drainage report, compaction tests and
curbs and gutters were raised.
Motion was made by Alderman Pepe "that the Applewood Knolls Eleventh
Filing Subdivision Plat Case be continued for two weeks for the
following reasons:
1. To allow submission of a drainage report.
2. Proof of curb and gutter inspection.
3. Proof of compaction tests on sewer cuts.
4. Specifications of curb and Dutter installed.
5. Specifications on concrete used in curb and gutter."
Moti8n was seconded by Alderman Hulsey and passed 4-2 with Aldermen
Bowling and Howard voting "nay."
Case WZ-69-l0 Applicants Donald L. Maher et al were represented by
Attorney Thomas Carney in a request for a change from R-3 to R-C
for a retail service station at 41 Avenue and Sheridan. The Wheat
Ridge Planning Commission by a vote of 3-1 had recommended denial.
Motion was made by Alderman Donaldson and seconded by Alderman
Bowling "that Case WZ-69-lo be continued for one week for study."
Motion passed 6-0.
Case WZ-69-11 Applicant Gene Pietro, represented by Attorney Cooper
Wayman requested a change from A-2 to 1-3 at 4830 Van Gordon Street
for a steel fabrication plant.
Motion was made bV Alderman Bowling and seconded by Alderman Howard
"that Case WZ-69-1l be tabled until February 19, 1970." Motion
passed 6-0.

Mr. Mike Leprino requested that the Applewood ~nolls Subdivision
Case be reopened.
Attorney Fox stated that in order to do so the motion tabling the
matter had to be set aside.
Motion was made by Alderman Bowling "that the previous motion
tabling the Applewood Knolls Subdivision Case be set aside."
Motion was seconded by Alderman Donaldson and defeated 4-3 with
Aldermen Howard, Bramble, Pepe and Mayor Anderson voting "nay."
Motion was made by Alderman Donaldson and seconded by Alderman
Hulsev "that the expenditure of $639.00 for needed police
equipment be approved." Moti8n passed 5-0. Alderman HDward
was not present.
Meeting was adjourned at 10~30 p.m.
