HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/12/1970 i1If~UTLJ f'iarch 12, 1 g70 The thirty-f~Fth reQular meeting of the Wheat Ridge City Souncil was called tn order at 7.30 p.m. in the Wheat Ridge Council Meetinn Room at 7390 West 38 Avenue by Mayor Albert E. Anderson. - Aldermen attending were Dana Bowling, Ray C. Pere, Jack W. Bramble, Joseph uonaldsnn, Robert Howard and Calvin Hulsey. Also attend ns were the hayor, Clerk, Treasurer, City Attorney, Au- mLnistratnr and citizens. Frank JL~wartz of the Wheat Ridge Jaycees reported on members ~unn~n~ for Jaycee off~ce5 and JayceE past and coming prnjeets--notably "Me Donald Week" which raised .soo.nn for the Community Center for the retarded, and "Earth Week", a project to clean-up ihe grounds ~f Red Rocks before Eoster. Budget and AppropriatLons Report was given b~ Treasurer James U. Malone. The report is on file in the general file. The fonl8rd of thE' f'lIrchasing Manual ~JaS read and the manual ldas dis- cussee. A copy of the manual is in the general file. Resolutian No. 53 was intraduced by Calvin Hulsey. The following Motion was made by Aldcrnan Donaldson "1 move thAt Resolution No. 53 be adopted by the City Council." Motion was seeond~d by Alderman Dowling. Motion was amended to include the following as Section 12. "This shall be the final Resolution and shall supercede all prior reg- ulations or resolutions concerning purchasing policies of the City." The amendment was approved by the second. Motion was further amended to include the words "and f',anual Section 2" in the third paragraph of Resolution No. 53. This anmenrlment was also approved by the second. Council was polled and the motion to adopt Resolution No. 53 was passed 6-0. Walt Grande, C~ty ~inance Officer, reported on bids received on gen- eral office supplies to be bought from the Management Contingency Fund and replaced as used by departll!~nts. The following Motion was made by Alderman Pepe "I move that the recommended purchase of office supplies be made from Edgewater Type- writer Company, and that Council authorize the Purchasing Agent La proceed with the purchase." Motion was seconded by Alderman Donaldson and passer! 6-0. Regulation 3-1 which would require the serial numbering of all doc- uments for ~JhlCh money is paid--that is licences, psrmL ts etc. ~Jas discussed hy the Treasurer. The following Motion was made by Alderman Howard "I move that Reg- ulation 3-1 proposrd ond read by the Treasurer be adopted as 3 City Regulation." Motion was seconded by Alderman Bramble and passed G-O. The following ('lotion was mae1e by Alderman Pepe "I move that the C.L ty hire a lead maintenance man for the Public Works JepBrtment." ~Iotion was seconded by Alderman Bramble and passed 6-0. The following Motion was made by Alderman Bramble "1 move that Council approve the purchase of a truck with a sander- recommended by the Streets Department at a price not to excned ~n, 900 .00 and to he paid for out of Road and BrLdge funds." Mot~on was seconded b, Alderman Lonaldson and passed 6-0. Police Chief Jack Bramble announced that a formal inspection of Police Officers will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 1970. He stated that the new phone number for the Police is 423-3250-day or night and if no one is there it will automatically ring in the Sheriff's off~ce. The follOWing Notion was made by Alderman Howard "I move that the Clerk be directed to send 8 letter to DenvEr REgional Council of Governments advising them of two appointments to committees of the DRCoL organization Mr. Howard Bunger to be on the Sanitary Engineering Committee and Mr. Ralph Johnson to be on the Water Advisory Committee." Motion was seconded by Alderman Hulsey and passed 5-0. The following Motion was made by Alderman Donaldson "I move that the Mayor, Council Members, City Attorney, JudQe and Department Heads be given a membership in the Wheat Ridge Chamber of Commerce."
