March 17, 1970
The thirty-sixth regular meeting of the Wheat Ridge City Council
was called to order by Mayor Albert E. Anderson in the Wheat Ridge
Co~ncil Meeting Room at 7390 West 38 Avenue at 7;30 p.m.
Aldermen attending were~ Calvin Hulsey, Robert Howard, Joseph
Donaldson, Jack W. Bramble, Dana Bowling and Ray Pepe.
Others attending were Mayor Anderson, Clerk Louise Turner, Attorney
Maurice Fox, Planning Director James Mier, Lt. Warren, Administrator
Walter Johnson, applicants for rezoning and citizens.
Rezoning Case WZ-7o-3 Applicant Addie E. Olson had requested a change
from A-I to R-C for a piano repair shop at 10580 West 44 Avenue.
The following Motion was made by Alderman Bramble "I move that the
property rezoning from A-I to R-C at 10580 West 44 Avenue for Addie
E. Olson be approved This was changed to R-C to convert a fruit
stand to a piano repair shop and will be an improvement to the area.
With the existing zoning on 44 Avenue, it would be in order to grant
this." Motion was seconded by Alderman Bowling and defeated 4-3 with
Aldermen Hulsey, Donaldson, Howard and Mayor Anderson voting "nay."
Applicant stated she could not use the land under the present zoning
and asked if another $100.00 would be required if she were to apply
for rezoning to another classification and was told it would be required.
Case WZ-69-12 Applicant William Mc Bride represented by Attorney
Gary Polidori requested a change from A-l to 1-2 on the NE corner
of 1-70 and Parfet, for a shop to be used for s~gn painting and
fabrication of the top part of signs. Plans call for a metal building
with baked enamel finish, a billboard in front and nothing to be
stored outside. Appearing on behalf of applicant were area resident
John Villano and landowner Harold Baumgartner.
Appearing in opposition were area residents~ Margaret Collins of
4990 Parfet, Juan Hawn of 4900 Robb, Paula Vessa of 5170 Swadley,
Arthur Wise of 5135 Swadley, Jimm Stubbs of 4996 Parfet, George
Karres of 5000 Robb and Ed Ritz of 5115 Swadley, all of whom felt
the business would be undesirable from the standpoint of residents,
~c J -:i.s not attractive as viewed from 1-70 and that it would be spot zoning.
Individual comments are recorded separately and are on file.
State Representative George Fentress recommended that a plan be made
for the area in order to protect the rights of the people living there.
The following Motion was made by Alderman Pepe "I move that Council
take Case WZ-69-12 under advisement for one week and then render a
decision." Motion was seconded by Alderman Donaldson and passed 6-0.
Decision will be first on the Agenda on March 24, 1970.
Resolution No. 54 was introduced and discussed.
The following Motion was made by Alderman Pepe "I move that Resolution
No. 54 establishing a bank account for the Municipal Court be approved
and that the reading be dispensed with." Motion was seconded by
Alderman Hulsey and passed 6-00
Alderman Bramble submitted a proposed rescheduling of Police Budget
Accounts.
The following Motion was made by Alderman Bowling "I move that Council
accept the proposed rescheduling of the Police Budget Accounts with
the total amount not to be changed." Motion was seconded by Alderman
Donaldson and passed 5-0 with Alderman Bramble abstaining.
Meeting was adjourned at 9~45 p.m.
