HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/07/1970 MINUTES April 7, 1970 The forty-second regular meeting of the Wheat Ridge City Council was called to order by Mayor Albert E. Anderson at 7 3D p.m in the Council Meeting Room at 7390 West 38 Avenue. Aldermen attending were Ray Pepe, Jack Bramble, Dana Bowling, Joseph Donaldson, Robert Howard and Calvin Hulsey. Others attending were Mayor Albert Anderson, Deputy City Clerk Elise McMillen, City Attorney Maurice Fox, City Administrator Walter Johnson, Assistant Engineer Clyde Hobbs, applicant for the rezoning case and interested citizens. State Representative George Fentress presented Mayor Albert Anderson a complete set of the State of Colorado Revised Statutes for use in the city office A letter from the State of Colorado was also pre- sented Case WZ-70-5 Applicant Lydia McGinn was present requesting a change in zoning from R-1 to R-2 at 3485 Garland Street for an apartment in the basement. Planning Commission had recommended denial. Mr Toby Clark of 3495 Garland and Mr. Robert Jenowski of 9301 West 35 Avenue were both opposed to the rezoning because they felt their property would lose value and that there were mostly single- family dwellings in the neighborhood even when the zoning was presently R-2 The following Motion was made by Alderman Donaldson "I move that Re- zoning Case WZ-70-5 be tabled for further advisement until April 14, 1970 at 7 3D p.m." Motion was seconded by Alderman Bowling and passed 6-0. Personnel Proposal for Public Works Department was presented by Mr. Hobbs stating the need for additional personnel and salaries that are comparable to neighboring cities. The following Motion was made by Alderman Pepe "I move that Council approve the hiring of one equipment operator and two laborers for the Street Department." Motion was seconded by Alderman Donaldson and passed 6-0 The following Motion was made by Alderman Donaldson "I move that the following pay schedule be approved for the Public Works De- partment Lead Man-$525.oo per month Maintenance Man-$450 DO per month Equipment Operator-$575 00 per month Laborer-$425.oo per month."
