HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/14/1970 MINUTES April 14, 1970 The forty-fourth regular meeting of the Wheat Ridge City Council was called to order at 7 30 p m. by Mayor Albert E Anderson in the Council Meeting Room at 7390 West 38 Avenue Aldermen attending were Dana Bowling, Jack W. Bramble, Joseph Donaldson, Calvin Hulsey and Ray C. Pepe. Alderman Robert Howard was absent Others attending were the Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney and City Administrator and Assistant Engineer Mrs. Louise Barish of 6920 West 33 Avenue requested that the City do something to correct a long standing drainage problem Alderman Pepe recommended that Mr Hobbs look into the matter and if possible come up with a solution. Mayor Anderson stated that this is a high priority problem and that the City would take the following steps 1. Get a definite answer from the County on whether or not it plans work in that area 2 If the answer is "no", then try to locate a broken pipe and open it up, now that there is relief at 38 Avenue andPierce. 3 Investigate the possibility of portable pumps and pipe and any other measures that might afford temporary relief until a per- manent solution can be realized. Rezoning Case WZ-70-5 Applicant Lydia McGinn had requested a change from R-1 to R-2 at 3485 Garland for an apartment in the basement. The following Motion was made by Alderman Pepe "I move that the zoning requested in WZ-70-5 be approved because the neighborhood is generally zoned R-2 at the present time and fits with the present use." Motion was seconded by Alderman Donaldson and passed 4-1 with Alderman Bramble voting "nay." Rezoning Case WZ-70-6 Applicant Earl Belding requested a change from A-1 to R-2 for the purpose of building one double on each of two parcels of land. Applicant stated that predominant use of the area is R-2. The City Attorney stated that a court order had been received from the District Court directing the licensing authority to issue the license upon receipt of the fees The following Motion W8S made by Alderman Donaldson "I move that while granting a 3 2 Beer License to Rally 5.S under court order, the Council go on record as being opposed to granting this license." Motion was seconded by Alderman Bowling and passed 5-0. It was announced that over $8,000 00 will be added to the police budget for this year, the money having been derived from Federal Funds through grants under which the Federal Government puts up 60% and Wheat Ridge 40% The following Motion was made by Alderman Donaldson "I move that the two cars previously ordered for Public Works and the four cars ordered for the Mayor be cancelled and order a study made before additional staff cars are ordered" Motion was seconded by Alderman Bowling and passed 5-0. The following Motion was made by Alderman Bowling "I move that Council authorize the expenditure of $23,810.00 to benefit from matching Federal Funds of $36,840.00 under the CLEAA, and to approve purchase of items in Wheat Ridge CLEAA proposal." Motion was seconded by Alderman Donaldson and passed 4-0 with Alderman Bramble abstaining. The following Motion was made by Alderman Bowling "I move that Council authorize the Administration to attempt to negotiate a lease for the office space just west of the City Office at a price not to exceed $125.00 per month."
