The fifty-second regular meeting of the Wheat Ridge City Council
was called to order by Mayor Albert E. Anderson in the Council
Meeting Room at 7 30 p.m.
ldermen present were Dana Bowling, Jack Bramble, Joseph Donaldson,
Robert Howard, Calvin Hulsey and Ray C. Pepe.
Lthers attending were Mayor Anderson, Clark Louise Turner, Treasurer
Ja~es Malone, Attorney Maurice Fox, Administrator Walter Johnson,
Finance Officer Walter Grande, Lt. Edward Pinson, representatives
of the Wheat Ridge Jaycees and interested citizens.
Citizen [.D. Mattox recommended and requested that Council look into
the possibility and procedure of extricating Wheat Ridge together
with Mountain View and Edgewater from the R-1 School District.
Representative George Fentress recommended that Council meet with the
Urban Drainage District pertaining to portions of the Pierce Street
Drainage Project for discussion.
Anthony S ~gent of the Wheat Ridge Jaycees inquired as to City plans
for a City Birthday Celebration and asked for the Council's approval
of a proposed Raft Race down Clear rr8e~ from one boundary of the
City to the other.
!reasurer's April Report W3S given by Treasurer James Malone and
indicated that as of the end of April 22.8% of the 1970 Revenue
had been received and that 19.7% of the money appropriated for 1970
has been spent.
Ordinance No. 46 establishing a personnel mcrit system for the City
was introduced by Alderman Donaldson and read.
Motion by Alderman Howard "I move that the following amendment be
made to Ordinance No. 46 In Section 4., at the end of 4-2 change
the period to a comma and add 'except for police officers for whom
the minimum interval shall be six months, if they pass their upgrading
tests.'" Motion was seconded by Alderman Bowling and passed 6-0.
Motion by Alderman Pepe "I move that Ordinance No. 46 establishing
a personnel merit system for the City of Wheat Ridge be passed as
ammended on first reading and that it be published in the Arvada
Citizen Sentinel and posted in six public places." Motion was seConded
by Alderman Bnwling and passed 6-0.
Ordinance No. 44 which amends Ordinance No. 11, the Zoning Ordinance,
to include H-1 and H-2 Zoning was introduced by Alderman Howard.
Motion by Alderman Pepe "I move that Ordinance No. 44 amending
Ordinance No. 11 by the addition of a new Section establishing a
new Zoning District, and by the repeal of certain portions of said
Ordinance allowing similar uses in other Zoning Districts-- be passed
on first reading and that it be published in the Arvada Citizen
Sentinel and posted in six public places." Motion was seconded by
Alderman Donaldson and passed 6-0.
Meeting was adjourned at 10 30 p.m.
