The eighty-fifth regular meeting of the Wheat Ridge City Council
was called to order at 7 30 P m. in the Council Meeting Room by
Mayor Albert E Anderson
Aldermen attending were Dana Bowling, Jack Bramble, Joseph Don-
aldson, Robert Howard, Calvin Hulsey and Ray Pepe
Also attending were Mayor Anderson, Clerk Louise F Turner, City
Attorney Maurice Fox, Director of Administrative Services Walter H
Johnson, Chief of Police Edward Pinson, Detective Leonard Post,
applicants for renewal of liquor and/or beer licenses and inter-
ested citizens
WS-70-1 Subdivision Plat decision was brought up
Motion_ by Alderman Bramble "I move that Subdivision Plat WS-70-1
be disapproved for the following reasons
Attorney Harold Lutz indicated that the applicant and
the City of Wheat Ridge should work together in order to solve the
existing drainage problem Wheat Ridge went to an expense to point
out a possible solution to the problem that exists on this particular
property The applicant and attorney were so notified and did not
pursue the matter. Public interest demands solution of the drainage
problem" Motion was seconded by Alderman Bowling and passed 6-0
WZ-70-20 Rezoning Case decision
Motion by Alderman Bowling "I move that Rezoning Case WZ-70-2o,
a request by Robert Hartman for a change from Restricted-Commercial
(R-C) to Commercial-One (C-1) at 4075 Kipling Street be denied for
the following reasons
It was denied by the Planning Commission
It would constitute spot zoning
It is not compatible with surrounding zoning, and
The narrowness of the property would constitute a traffic
hazard" Motion was seconded by Alderman Donaldson and passed 4-2
with Aldermen Howard and Pepe voting "nay "

Motion by Alderman Donaldson, seconded by Alderman Bramble and passed
5-0 "That Council approve the renewal of a Class "D" license for
Prk-N-Pik Liquors at 9345 West 44 Avenue "
Motion by Alderman Hulsey, seconded by Alderman Howard and passed 6-0
"That Council grant th8 renewal of a Class "D" license for Lakeside
Liquors at 5820 West 44 Avenue "
Motion by Alderman Donaldson, seconded by Alderman Bowling and pass8d
6-0 "That renewal of a Class "D" license for Wheatridge Liquors Com-
pany at 5808 West 38 Avenue be approved."
Motion by Alderman Bramble, seconded by Alderman Bowling and passed
6-0 "That Council approve a Class "E'l licens8 r8newal for Paramount
Pharmacy at 10041 West 26 Avenue "
Motion by Alderman Howard, seconded by Alderman Bramble and passed
5-0 "That renewal of a Class "G", 3-Way liquor license for Caravan
West at 11221 West 44 Avenue be approved."
Motion by Alderman Bowling and seconded by Alderman Donaldson and
passed 6-0 "That renewal of a Class "G" license for House of Lords
at 4111 Kipling Street be approved"
Motion by Alderman Bramble, seconded by Alderman Bowling and passed
6-0 "That renewal of a Class "G" license for Rockette Bar at 10006
West 44 Avenue be granted "
Motion by Alderman Bowlin~ seconded by Alderman Howard and passed
6-0 "That renewal of a Class "G" license be approved for Vern's
at 7605 West 44 Avenue "
Motion by Alderman Donaldson, seconded by Alderman Bowling and
passed 6-0 "That Council approve the renewal of a Class "G" license
for the Lost Knight Cocktail Lounge at 3270 Youngfield "
Motion by Alderman Pepe "That the Class "G" license for Club Corner
Bar and Nite Club be approved for renewal." Motion was seconded by
Alderman Bowling and passed 4-2 with Aldermen Bramble and Howard
voting "nay."
Motion by Alderman Bramble, seconded by Aldermen Donaldson and Howard
simultaneously and passed 6-0 "That renewal of a Class "G" license
for DAV Post #22 at 4901 Marshall Road be approved "
Motion by Alderman Pepe, seconded by Alderman Hulsey and passed 6-0
"That renewal of a "G" license for the Golden Steer at 10151 West
26 Avenue be approved subject to receipt of the check for the city
license "
Motion by Alderman Pepe, seconded by Alderman Bramble and passed 6-0
"That Council approve the renewal of a Class "G" license for Holly
West at 3490 Young field "
Motion by Alderman Bowling, seconded by Alderman Pepe "That consi-
deration of application for renewal of package beer license for
Safeway Store #234 be tabled until the manager can be present "
Motion was defeated by a vote of 2-4 with Aldermen Bramble, Howard,
Hulsey and Donaldson voting "nay."
Motion by Alderman Bramble, seconded by Alderman Hulsey "That re-
n8wal of th8 3 2 b88r packag8 lic8ns8 for Saf8way Stor8 #234 b8
approved." Motion passed 4-1 with Alderman Pepe voting "nay" and
Alderman Bowling abstaining.

A preliminary hearing was held for the transfer of ownership of
Hillcrest Liquors Applicant Ronald Graebing was represented by
Attorney Michael Villano
Motion by Alderman Pepe "I move that the date of a public hearing
for the transfer of ownership of Hillcrest Liquors be set for
December 17, 1970 at 7 30 P m." Motion was seconded by Alderman
Bramble and passed 6-0
The following Motion was made by Alderman Dana Bowling "I move
that the Wheat Ridge City Council commend the Wheat Ridge High
School Football Team for outstanding accomplishments to date _
to the extent of winning the Jefferson County Football Championship
and extend to the players the wishes of this Council for success in
their bid for the State Championship" Motion was seconded by
Alderman Joseph Donaldson and passed unanimously. The vote being
recorded as follows

Alderman Howard announced thatfr-frirl for the control of dogs and
certain other animals would be on the Agenda on November 19, 1970.
