HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/05/1971 MINUTES August 5, 1971 The one hundred and nineteenth regular meeting of the Wheat Ridge City Council was called to order at 7 30 p.m at 7390 West 38 Avenue by Mayor Albert E Anderson Aldermen attending were Dana Bowling, Jack Bramble, Joseph Donaldson, Robert Howard and Calvin Hulsey. Alderman Ray Pepe was absent. Others attending were Mayor Anderson, Clerk Louise Turner, City Attorney Maurice Fox, staff personnel and interested citizens. Citizen Comments were made by Mick Denzin who requested that the City donate $2,500.00 - $3,000.00 to the Wheat Ridge Action Youth Association to insure the continuance of the Lower Earth Coffee House through the end of 1971 by which time the Association hopes to receive Federal Funds for which it has applied Additional comments were made by Rev. Al Beck. Complete comments are in the General File under Citizen Comments Miscellaneous. Ordinance No. 89 was introduced by Alderman Donaldson and read. Motion by Alderman Howard "I move that Ordinance No. 89 pertaining to the salary of the City Clerk and City Treasurer as introduced by Alderman Donaldson be passed on first reading and be published and posted." Motion was seconded by Alderman Bowling and passed 5-0. Ordinance No. 88 was introduced by Alderman Bramble and read. Motion by Alderman Donaldson to the setting of salaries for first reading and be published Alderman Howard and passed 5-0 "I move that Ordinance No 88 pertaining City employees for 1972 be approved on and posted." Motion was seconded by with Alderman Pepe absent. Mayor Anderson announced that a city survey is being taken of American Elm trees which are being badly hit by Dutch Elm Disease. Ordinance No. 90 amending Ordinance No. 50 on weeds was introduced by Alderman Howard and read Motion by Alderman Bowling "I move that under Section 2 the word 'six (5)' be changed to 'twelve (12).'" Motion was seconded by Alderman Donaldson and passed 3-2 with Aldermen Howard and Hulsey voting "nay" and Alderman Pepe absent. Motion by Alderman Donaldson "I move that we pass Ordinance No. 90 as amended on first reading and that it be published and posted." Motion was seconded by Alderman Hulsey and passed 5-0. Resolution No. 133 was introduced by Alderman Howard and read. Motion by Alderman Bramble "I move that Resolution No. 133 transferring money from the unappropriated surplus into an 'Ordinance Enforcement' account b8 eclQpted." Motion was seconded by Alderman Donaldson and passed 5-0. Alderman Pepe was absent. , The Board of ~djUBtment By-laws scheduled for this meeting will be held over ane'we€k for study. , Motion by Alde~man Bowling "I move that City Council direct the Building DeparttJiallt t.o have the weeds cut and the cost thereof charged to the owner, ten~Mt or agent in charge of the property, together with 5% additional cost for inspection and other incidentals for the following property wherein notice required by Ordinance No. 50 has been properly given and the weeds have not been cut Lot One, Horace Heights Subdivision."
