TITLE: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A POLICEMEN'S PENSION FUND FOR THE
POLICE -DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE_CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO
THAT:
Section' I. Fund EstablisKe_d.- The Policemen's Pension
Fund of the City of Wheat Ridge is hereby established.
Section 2. Operation of Fund. The Policemen's Pension
Fund of the City of Wheat Ridge shall be operated in accordance with
the laws and statutes of the State of Colorado as provided in chapter
139-49-1 to 139-49-24, G.R.S. 163, and as the same may later be
amended.
Section 3. Limit of Contribution by City of Wheat Ridge.
The City council hereby finds and determines that the City should use
the power granted to it under chapter 139-49-20, C.R.S. 163, and does
hereby elect to pay from the general funds of the City, into the
Policemen's. Pension Fund created hereby such sum monthly as shall not
exceed five per cent (5%) of the monthly salaries of the total Police
Department of the City.
Section 4. Police Officers' Contribution. The members.
of the PoliceDepartment shall from their respective monthly salaries
contribute into the Policemen's Pension fund of the City, identical
percentages-monthly of their respective monthly salaries so that the
contribution of the Police Department as a whole shall match the
contribution of the City.
Section 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take
effect and be in force five (5) days after publication following final
passage providing it shall have been passed by an affirmative vote of
three-fourths (3/4) of the members of the City Council, otherwise,
said ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after publication
following final passage.
Section 6. Emergency Clause. _,,,,,,The provisions of this
ordinance are-,necessary to,.the, immediate preservation of .the public
health and safety of the citizens of Wheat Ridge for-the following
reasons:
1. No previous ordinance establishing a Policemen's
Pension Fund for the Police Department of the
City of Wheat Ridge exists because the City
having just completed incorporation August 2D,
1969, has not heretofore passed an ordinance
relating to a Policemen's Pension Fund forthe
City of Wheat Ridge.
2. Ordinances establishing a Policemen's Pension
Fund for the City of Wheat Ridge are necessary
to preserve the public health and safety.of the
City of Wheat Ridge.
