TITLE: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING 1971 POSITIONS FOR THE CITY OF
WHEAT RIDGE, A PAY SCALE FOR THESE POSITIONS, AND PROVIDING
FOR PART-TIME, TEMPORARY, OVERTIME AND SPECIAL PAY..

Section 4. Director P_ay. Pay for Directors is established
as follows for-1971 _ When a Directorship is vacant and an "Acting
Director" is named,- his pay will be computed in accordance with the
Merit System.

Chief Building-Inspector $ 890
Director of-Administrative Services_ - $ 670
Section 5. Pay for Part-Time and Temporary Work. Except for
Parks Caretaker__Helpers, Recreation Helpers, and Public Works Helpers,
maximum hourly rates per grade,are.as 'indicated in Section 1.
Helpers will be paid: $1.60/Hour to $1.75/.Hour for the first-year;
$2.00/Hour for second year; $2.25/Hdur for the third year; and $2.55/
Hour for the fourth and subsequent _years._ Recreational Leader and

Instructor hourly-'.rtes wil_1_ge established._by the Parks_and=
Recreation Commission..
Section 6.- Overtime Pay. Work in excess of 40 hours per
week, if authorized in,advance by the Department Director or _
Officer-for all personnel will be paid at the rate of time
and one-half the hourly rate. _gompensatory time will be
used for all employees except in the event of an emergency
or unforeseeable circumstance.'-':.,, _
Section 7. `Eligibility. .,New grades- end pay are_effective.-
January 1, 1971 for all personnel. Except as otherwise provided,
eligibility for Proficiency Pay increases as provided in Sec-
tions 2,and 3-shall normally he on an-annual basis except new
and upgraded employees who are appointed for a_six months' pro-
bationary period become eligible for a step increase after six
months if accepted as Regular Employees and if.recommended- by
their Department Directoror officer and approved by the Mayor.
Civil Service Ordinance No. 40 establiehes promotion interval
for policeman below the grade .of .Senior.Patrclmen. Except-for -
Recruit Policemen, no change in pay fallowing a grade, rank
and/or step increasewill be-made tore frequently than once in
90 days. Beginning in 1971, the anniversary dates for purposes
of computing pay will be adjusted to coincide with-the start of--
the_near.eat-pay period at the time of the first grade or rank
change or step change made during the year.

Section 8. Standby Duty. WheXn personnel are-us.e.d on
standby duty at home but are not called during any 24=-hour period,
they will be credited with two hours of. pay-for each 24 hours-
or four hours per 48-hour period of such standby duty, pay to
be at regular rates. IF ealled.while on standby, employees will
be paid at the overtime rata,a_nd no credit will accrue for standby
during that period.
Section 9._ Administrative Authority. All hiring, promotion,
and other policies relating-to City personnel will be as provided
by the Personnel Merit.System of the-City of Wheat Ridge, or
Civil Service, Rules whichever is, applicable.
Section 10. Effective Data. This Ordinance is effective
January 1, 1971.
