HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance-1975-0190 - Amend WR Ord 175 - Department Head Pay Grades/ClassificationsINTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN MERKL ORDINANCE NO. 190 Series of 1975 TITLE: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 175, SERIES OF 1975, SECTION II, "ADMINISTRATIVE, DEPARTMENT HEADS, AND SPECIAL STAFF"; AND PROVIDING THAT ALL CLASSIFICATIONS, PAY GRADES, AND PAY STEPS SHALL REMAIN IN EFFECT HEREAFTER UNTIL CHANGED BY ORDINANCE; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO, THAT: Section I. Section II, Administrative, Department Heads, and Special Staff, Ordinance No. 175, Series of 19757 is hereby amended as follows: Section II. Administrative, Department Heads, and Special Staff. Pay for Administrative, Department Heads, a nd Special Staff will be established by City Council, based on qualifi- cations and responsibility, within the following pa y ranges; all position s are exempt from overtime: (Pay Grade) (Position Title) (Pay Range) 48 Director of Administrative Services (E) 1228 - 1568 49 Director of Community Development (E) 1320 - 1607 49 Director of Parks and Recreation (E) 1320 - 1607 52 Director of Public Works (E) 1421 - 1729 52 Chief of Police (E) 1421 - 1729 City administrator (E) 1985 - 2382 Section II. Effective Date. Pay changes contained herein shall take effect on October 1, 1975. Section III. Emergency Clause. The provisions of this Ordinance are necessary for the preservation of the public health and safety of the citizens of Wheat Ridge for the following reasons: (1) The adoption of the new pay scale for the City Administrative, Department Heads, and Special Staff, has been unavoidably delayed due to budgetary restrictions and, therefore, the earliest possible payment of the additional salaries authorized under this ordinance is considered of vital public interest; (2) The higher salary levels are justified as soon as possible to accurately reflect the adopted prevailing wage policy of the City; (3) The revised salary schedules have a direct bearing on employee productivity and morale and are, therefore, in the public interest for immediate implementation. :E TWO ORDINANCE NO. 190 Section IV. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days after publication following final passage providing it shall have been passed by an affirmative vote of three-fourths (3/4) of the members of the City Council; otherwise, said Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after publication following final passage.
