ORDINANCE NO. 532
Series of 1983
TITLE: AN ORDINANCE INITIATING AN AMENDMENT TO SECTION 2.2 OF THE
HOME RULE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE,
COLORADO, THAT:
Section 1. Section 2.2. of the Wheat Ridge Home Rule Charter
shall be amended by the addition of the following paragraph:
"A General Municipal Election shall be held on the first
Tuesday after the first Monday in may of 1985, and every
two years thereafter."
Section 2. The ballot title shall read as follows:

"Shall the Wheat Ridge Home Rule Charter be amended by
adopting an amendment to Section 2.2, changing General
Municipal Elections from November to May, starting in
1985."
Section 3. This Charter Amendment Ordinance shall be submitted
to a vote of the Registered Electors at the July 12, 1983 Special
Municipal Election, and if adopted, shall take effect immedi-
ately.
Section 4. Safety Clause, The City Council hereby finds,
determines and declares that this Ordinance is promulgated under
the police power of the City of Wheat Ridge; that it is promul-
gated for the health, safety, and welfare of the public; and that
this Ordinance is necessary for the preservation of health and
safety and for the protection of public convenience and welfare.
The City Council further determines that the Ordinance bears a

rational relation to these objectives.

Section 5. Severability. If any clause, sentence, paragraph,
or part of this Ordinance or the application thereof to any per-
son or circumstances shall for any reason be adjudged by a court
of competent jurisdiction invalid, such judgment shall not af-
fect, impair or invalidate the remainder of this Ordinance or its
application to other
persons or circumstances.
