HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance-1983-0554INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER MERKL ORDINANCE N0, 554 Series of 1983 TITLE: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12-2, MODEL TRAFFIC CODE-- AMENDMENTS, ADDITIONS, MODIFICATIONS, AND DELETIONS, OF THE CODE OF LAWS OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE BY REPEALING AND REENACTING SECTION 11-1, STOPPING, STANDING, OR PARKING PROHIBITED IN SPECIFIED PALCES--THEREOF, AND ADDING THERETO SECTION 11-4, PARKING OF "MAJOR VEHICLES" AND PROVIDING METHODS OF ENFORCING SAID ADDED SECTION 11-4, AND ADDI14G THERETO SECTION 11-5, PARKING OF MAJOR VEHICLES WITHIN COMMERCIAL DISTRICTS WHEREIN A SPECIAL USE PERMIT HAS NOT BEEN GRANTED, EACH OF WHICH SHALL CONSTITUTE AMEND- MENTS TO "THE MODEL TRAFFIC CODE FOR COLORADO MUNICIPALITIES, 1977 EDITION, PREVIOUSLY ENACTED BY THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO: Section 1. Section 12-2, Model Traffic Code--Amendments, Additions, Modifications, and Deletions, is hereby amended as follows: "Section 11-1, Stopping, Standing, or Parking Prohibited in Specified Places, is hereby amended by repealing in its entirety existing Section 11-1(a)(12) and reenacting said Section 11-1(a)(12) as follows: 12. Within emergency access lanes designated pursuant to Section 23-9(b)(9) hereof so as to obstruct designated and marked emergency access lanes anywhere within the municipality of the city of Wheat Ridge. This prohibition against stopping, standing, or parking a vehicle within said designated emer- gency access lanes shall be applicable to all property, whether public or private within the city of Wheat Ridge, and shall prohibit the parking, stopping, or standing of any vehicle within said emergency access lanes except emergency vehicles (i.e. police cars, fire department vehicles, amublances, EMT vehicles, etc.) during the answer- ing of an emergency call." Section 2. Article XI "Stopping, Standing, or Parking Regulations of the Model Traffic Code as enacted and enforced within the city of Wheat Ridge is hereby amended by the addition of the following Section 11-4 "Parking of 'Major Vehicles':" "(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to park or store, or allow the parking or storing of, a major vehicle upon any property located and situate within the city of Wheat Ridge, or upon any dedicated public street or road, or private street or road, or public right-of-way or easement or park within the city of Wheat Ridge except as hereinafter specified. (b) For the purposes of this Section 11-4, 'Major Vehicle' is defined as any vehicle (1) eight feet or more in width, and/or (2) twenty-five feet or more in length, or (3) regard- less of size, a truck tractor or semi-trailer, or (4) any vehicle licensed in the state of Colorado, or required to be licensed by the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles in Colorado, or, if not a Colorado vehicle, which would otherwise be required to be licensed by the Department of Motor Vehicles in Colorado, under any of the categories COMM, GTM, Metro, apportioned, or farm.
