TITLE.
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE POSITION OF CITY HISTORIAN
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has a rich history, extending to the first settlement
of the area in approximately 1859, and
WHEREAS, the preservation and celebration of this history is of great importance to the
current and future residents of the City, and
WHEREAS, the creation of the position of City Historian will assist in achieving these
goals
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE,
COLORADO, AS FOllOWS:
Section 1 Position of City Historian Created A new section 2-35 of the Wheat Ridge
Code of laws, entitled" City Historian," is hereby enacted to read as follows
Sec 2-35 City Historian.
The City Historian shall be appointed by the City Council
and shall serve without compensation and at the pleasure of the
Council The City Historian shall possess such qualifications as
shall be imposed by the Council, and shall perform such functions
and undertake such duties as may from time to time be assigned
by the Council
Section 2 Safety Clause The City Council hereby finds, determines, and declares that
this Ordinance is promulgated under the general police power of the City of Wheat Ridge, that
it is promulgated for the health, safety, and welfare of the public and that this Ordinance is
necessary for the preservation of health and safety and for the protection of public
convenience and welfare The City Council further determines that the Ordinance bears a
rational relation to the proper legislative object sought to be attained
Section 3 Severability If any clause, sentence, paragraph, or part of this Ordinance
or application thereof to any person or circumstances shall for any reason be judged by a court
of competent jurisdiction invalid, such judgment shall not affect, impair or invalidate the
remainder of this Ordinance or its application to other persons or circumstances
Section 4 Effective Date This Ordinance shall take effect fifteen days after final
publication, as provided by Section 5 11 of the Charter
