TITLE. AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND REENACTING SECTION 19-32 OF THE
CODE OF LAWS OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO TO ESTABLISH
COMPENSATION FOR REGULAR EMPLOYEES AND PROVIDE FOR PUBLIC
ACCOUNTABILITY FOR USE OF ACCRUED LEAVE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE,
COLORADO, THAT
Section I Section 19-32(a) of the Code oflaws of the City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado is hereby
repealed and reenacted as a new Section 2-3(t) to read as follows:
A compensation schedule for all regular employees of the City will be annually established
and included as an appendix in the annual budget and adopted by the city council in the
exercise of its legislative discretion. In accordance with principles of public accountability,
specifically that employees should not be paid for time not worked due to the need to be
accountable to the city's taxpayers for expenditures of city funds, unclassified employees'
pay will be reduced when partial days of annual leave, sick leave, or holiday leave are used
by the employee when no accrued annual leave, sick leave, holiday leave, or
compensatory time is available.
Section 2 Section 19-32(b) of the Code oflaws of the City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado is hereby
repealed and reenacted as a new Section 2-3(g).
Section 3 Section 19-32(c) ofthe Code oflaws of the City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado is hereby
repealed and reenacted as a new Section 2-3(h).
Section 4 Safety Clause The City Council hereby finds, determines, and declares that this
ordinance is promulgated under the general police power of the City of Wheat Ridge, that it is
promulgated for the health, safety, and welfare of the public, and that this ordinance is necessary
for the preservation of health and safety and for the protection of public convenience and welfare.
The City Council further determines that the ordinance bears a rational relation to the proper
legislative object sought to be attained.
Section 5 Severability If any clause, sentence, paragraph, or part of this ordinance or the
application thereof to any person or circumstances shall for any reason be adjudged by a court of
competent jurisdiction invalid, such judgment shall not affect, impair or invalidate the remainder
of this ordinance or its application to other persons or circumstances.
Section 6 This ordinance shall take effect fifteen days after final publication.
