TITLE.
AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING PARK HOURS AND
AMENDING SECTION 17.26(a) OF THE WHEAT
RIDGE CODE OF LAWS
WHEREAS, Section 17 .26(a) of the Wheat Ridge Code of Laws currently
provides for normal park hours from 5.00 a.m. to 10'00 p.m daily; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to give the Director of the Department of
Parks and Recreation or his agent the authority to change the hours for certain
locations within the park system and to post these changed hours;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE,
COLORADO AS FOLLOWS.
Section 1. Section 17.26(a) of the Wheat Ridge Code of Laws IS hereby
amended to read as follows'
(a) UNLESS OTHERWISE POSTED BY THE DIRECTOR
OR HIS AGENT, ~ PARKS AND THEIR ASSOCIATED
RECREATIONAL FACIL TilES shall normally be open daily
from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 p m. and normally be closed
from 10'00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., except for activities and
events sponsored by the department or authorized by
permission of the director Any park or recreational
facility may be declared closed to the public by the
director or his agent or by the chief of police or his agent
at any time within a temporary or stated interval as the
director or chief of police shall find reasonably necessary
in order to protect the public, and individual members
thereof, from dangerous persons, conditions or situations.
It shall be unlawful to go into or upon an area or part of
any park or recreational facility of the city when it has
been declared to be closed to the public under this
prOVISion
Section 2. Safety Clause. The City Council hereby finds, determines, and
declares that this Ordinance is promulgated under the general police power of the

City of Wheat Ridge, that It IS promulgated for the health, safety, and welfare of
the public and that this Ordinance is necessary for the preservation of health and
safety and for the protection of public convenience and welfare. The City Council
further determines that the Ordinance bears a rational relation to the proper
legislative object sought to be attained.
Section 3. Severability; Conflictina Ordinances Reoealed. If any section,
subsection or clause of thiS ordinance shall be deemed to be unconstitutional or
otherwise invalid, the validity of the remaining sections, subsections and clauses
shall not be affected thereby. All other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect fifteen days
after final publication, as provided by Section 5 11 of the Charter.

full in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Wheat Ridge and Public
Hearing and consideration on final passage set for March 11 , 2000, at
7.00 o'clock p.m., in the Council Chambers, 7500 West 29th Avenue, Wheat
Ridge, Colorado.
READ, ADOPTED AND ORDERED PUBLISHED on second and final reading by
a vote of 7 to 0 ,this 13th day of March , 2000.
