RESOLUTION NO. ~,'
Series of 1970
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge
is desirous of obtaining all possible assistance in completing
the Pierce Street Storm Drainage Project at an early date,
WHEREAS, the attached resolution is bein~ considered
by the other cities in Jefferson County,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT this City Council
approve the attached Recommendatory Resolution and authorize
the Mayor to sign said Resolution on behalf of the City for
presentation to Jefferson County.

RECOMMENDATION TO
THE JEFFERSON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
FROM
THE INCORPORATED CITIES OF JEFFERSON COUNTY
WHEREAS I Lutheran Hospita I and Medica I Center, a non-profit eleemosynary
institution is an asset to every citizen of Jefferson County, and
WHEREAS1 the Hospital with its land, buildings, and equipment has been made
available at no cost to the citizenry of the community, and
WHEREAS, an institution of this nature operated by a similar county in the State
of Colorado is costing this County 4.25 mil, and
WHEREAS, portia Ily due to the rapid growth of Jefferson County, the Hospita I
has the highest percentage of occupancy of any hospital in the area
and because of th is growth, is forced to expand, and
WHEREAS, a Federal Hill-Burton grant in the amount of $402,000 has been awarded
to the Hospita I, but as a condition precedent requires that adequate
storm sewer dra inage be guaranteed, and
WHEREAS, the newly incorporated city of Wheat Ridge at this time is financially
unable to pay the cost of providing adequate drainage to the Hospital,
and
WHEREAS, if a comm ittment for the insta Ilation of the storm sewer cannot be
provided to the Hill-Burton officials, the $402,000 grant will be lost, and
WHEREAS, all areas of the County benefit through the use of the Hospital,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the incorporated cities of Arvada, Edgewater,
Golden, Lokewood, Mountain View and Wheat Ridge, through its duly
elected city councils recommend to the County Commissioners that the
proportionate share of the Hospital's cost of the storm sewer be paid by
the County Commissioners out of the genera I fund.
