RESOLUTION NO. 136
Series of 1971
WHEREAS, fireworks cause injury to persons; and
WHEREAS, extensive property damage has been cause by fire-
works year after year; and
WHEREAS, the cost to the taxpayer for extinguishing annoying
weed and structural fires is needless; and
WHEREAS, preplanning by government officials, charged with
the maintenance of public safety, is becoming more costly each year; and
WHEREAS, fireworks do pollute the air; and
WHEREAS, fireworks provide no cultural or moral enrichment; and
WHEREAS, fireworks do terrorize small children; and
WHEREAS, it has been shown that domestic animals are frequently
injured by fireworks;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, do hereby request the Governor of the
State of Colorado to place upon his Call, in the year 1972, necessary
legislation to ban the unlawful use, sale, and possession of fireworks,
by requiring persons in charge of displays to be bonded and licensed
as qualified to conduct such events.
