HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1974-0317 Introduced bV Alderman Turner RESOLUTION NO. 317 Series of 1974 WHEREAS, Mountain Bell Telephone Company has proposed rate increases to produce additional total revenues of approximately $15.7 million, and an increase in its authorized rate of return from 11.4% to 13% or 15%, and WHEREAS, a portion of this proposed revenue will be from a charge to the customers of communities levying a franchise, occupation or gross receipt tax; and WHEREAS, the proposed rate increases are excessive and unwarranted in the opinion of the City of Wheat Ridge and therefore would become an unfair burden on the citizens of the City who depend upon telephone service as a vital public commodity; and WHEREAS, the Colorado Municipal League Executive Board has authorized the League to take appropriate legal and other action in opposition to the proposed increases on behalf of municipal customers and citizen interests; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Wheat Ridge hereby protests Mountain Bell's proposed rate increases and supports and endorses the Colorado Municipal League in its efforts to oppose such increases.
