RESOLUTION NO. 366
Series of 1975
TITLE: A RESOLUTION URGING SUPPORT FOR THE ADOPTION OF LEGISLATION
CONCERNING A SYSTEM OF PUBLIC EMPLOYER-EMPLOYEE RELATIONS BY
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF COLORADO, AS PROPOSED
BY THE COLORADO MUNICIPAL LEAGUE.
W,EREAS, the Colorado Municipal League has drafted a proposed
bill providing for a system of Public Employer-Employee Relations in the
State of Colorado which would be applicable to all public jurisdictions;
and
WHEREAS, the Legislative Committee of the Denver Regional Council
of Governments has reviewed and supports such bill; and
WHEREAS, the bill provides for harmonious, peaceful, and coopera-
tive relationships between government jurisdictions and their employees
to protect the public interest and the interest of public employees by
establishing an orderly and responsive method of handling employer-employee
relationships; and
WHEREAS, the Act establishes the right of employees to organize
and to meet and confer on employee problems; and
WHEREAS, the Act preserves the right and responsibility of the
governing body to make final decisions on the level of municipal expendi-
tures, including employee salaries and benefits, which affect the local
jurisdiction's tax structure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Wheat Ridge urges the active support of all Colorado legislators,
Governor Richard Lamm, labor groups, Chambers of Commerce, and other com-
munity groups for the enactment of the bill prepared and recommended by
the Colorado Municipal League as a revision of Title 8, C.R.S. 1973, as
amended, to be known as the "COLORADO PUBLIC EMPLOYER-EMPLOYEE LABOR
RELATIONS PEACE ACT OF 1975".
