TITLE: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A CITY IDENTITY
COMMITTEE SETTING FORTH ITS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND
METHOD OF APPOINTMENT OF ITS MEMBERS
WHEREAS, on September 27, 1975, the City adopted a Comprehen-
sive Plan after many months of study, community involvement, and dis-
cussion; and
W~EREAS, such Plan is intended to guide the future development
of the City of Wheat Ridge in an orderly manner according to concepts
desired by its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the development of the Comprehensive Plan included the
involvement of neighborhood planning groups thro~ghout the City as well
as other persons and organizations, many of which have expressed the
desire to develop an identity for the City which would help establish
and publicize the City's own personality and image; and
W~EREAS, the goal of establishing an identity for the City is
favored by the City's Planning Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a CITY IDENTITY COMMITTEE
be hereby authorized and established consisting of seven (7) selected
citizens of Wheat Ridge who are interested in this project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the memoership of the City Identity
Committee be comprised of citizens residing in all parts of the City
and that each City Co~ncilman and Mayor shall select and appoint one
mem~er to the Committee, thereby making a total of seven (7) members.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Identity Committee shall
select its own Chairman from among its members and that the Committee
shall not include any elected persons, City staff members, or members
of current appointed Boards or Commissions of the City, thereby making
this Committee purely a citizens group. The me~tin8 shall bp Qnnounccd
publicly and any interested citizen shall be invited to participate.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the duties of the City Identity
Committee shall include
(a) a thorough understanding of the purposes, intent,
and goals of the City's Comprehensive Plan;
(b) the development of a City image consistent with
community desires and the goals and objectives
of the Comprehensive Plan;
(c) the preparation of recommendations to the Planning
Commission, and to the City Council on the imple-
mentation of the proposed identity of the City.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Committee shall be officially
activated on December 1, 1975, and shall be automatically disbanded
when the City Council has adopted an Identity Section for the City's
Comprehensive Plan.
