TITLE: RESOLUTION DESIGNATING AND ESTABLISHING A PRIMARY TARGET HOUSING
REHABILITATION AREA IN THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE.
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge desires to participate in an affir-
mative program of housing rehabilitation to aid specific areas of the City
which are in need of assistance to rehabilitate single-family homes which
have deteriorated; and
WHEREAS, many of these homes do not meet minimum building code stand-
ards for construction due to age and use; and
WHEREAS, the deterioration of neighborhoods presents a safety and
health problem to the community and results in loss of tax revenues due to
depreciated land and housing values; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has previously designated the
Jefferson County Housing Authority to be the Housing Authority for the City
in all matters within the Authority's legal jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, funds have become available to the Housing Authority for
the rehabilitation of housing in the City for qualified housing units;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the area bounded by W. 35th Ave.,
W. 26th Ave., Sheridan Blvd., and Fenton St., be designated as the primary
target housing rehabilitation area for the City of Wheat Ridge; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that other individual housing units in the
City may apply for and qualify for housing assistance on the basis of need
and availability of funds; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Jefferson County Housing Authority
is hereby authorized to conduct the necessary field surveys and investigatiollF:

and to conduct necessary meetings with property owners to explain the program
and enlist participation toward the goal of complete neighborhood rehabilitation;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Wheat Ridge shall work
cooperatively with the City of Edgewater in carrying out the goals and
intent of the neighborhood rehabilitation program and in the selection of
housing units in both Cities for this program.
