TURNER
RESOLUTION NO. r:; Jv 5
Series of 1978
WHEREAS, WALTER H. JOHNSON participated in the incorporation of the
City of Wheat Ridge; and
WHEREAS, in the early days following the incorporation of the City,
when there were numerous requirements of State law to be met and the City
had neither staff nor budget, Walt Johnson volunteered his services as the
first Administrative Assistant of the City; and
WHEREAS, in that capacity, he researched Statutes, Building Codes,
equipment and personnel needs, purchasing procedures, and more, and wrote
ordinances, resolutions, reports, and policies, all of which were invaluable
to the officials of a newly formed City; and
WHEREAS, he worked tirelessly and cheerfully, without seeking com-
pensation or credit; and
WHEREAS, largely because of his contributions, the first elected
officials were able to expedite procedures, and the formation of the City
progressed smoothly and straightforwardly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Wheat Ridge, Colorado, that WALTER H. JOHNSON was indeed a Founding Father
and true friend of the City; that Wheat Ridge owes a debt of gratitude to
him, and feels a tremendous sense of loss in his passing.
