RESOLUTION NO. 872

TITLE: RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE SALARY SCHEDULE PROVIDING FOR PAY GRADES AND PAY
RANGES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1984
WHEREAS, the City has established and classified Merit and Civil Service
positions; and
costs;
WHEREAS, the Budget provides for expenditures for salaries and related

A. Pay grades and pay ranges for Merit and Civil Service position classi-
fications and for non-classified positions are hereby established as listed below.
Positions designated with the letter (E) are professional, supervisory, or adminis-
trative in nature and are, therefore, exempt from overtime payments.

Pay ranges listed are from the Arthur Young and Company study dated December 1, 1983.
Pay ranges given in parenthesis are to be used for pay purposes in 1984. In those
positions where the present incumbent's salary exceeds the pay range listed for the
position, the present incumbent's salary will remain at the 1983 level.
B. A combined clothing and cleaning allowance shall be paid to all uniformed
Police Officers of the City at the rate of $500 per calendar year per officer, and
shall be disbursed on a quarterly basis. The City will be responsible for the
initial issuance of uniforms for the Police Officers when they begin employment
with the department. This will be one complete issue of uniforms. Any subsequent
uniform acquisition or replacement will be the responsibility of the individual
offi cer.

An officer will not be eligible for the first clothing allowance until after
completion of one year of service with the Wheat Ridge Police Department, and for
the balance of the second year, the payment will be prorated for the period of time
remaining in that calendar year.
Animal Control Officers, Park Rangers, and Communications Complaint Intake
Officers, shall receive a cleaning allowance of $110 per year payable quarterly
from date of hire and uniforms will be provided on an as-needed basis.
The City will provide work clothing for all designated Public Works and Parks
personnel and such other classifications as designated by the City Administrator.
C. A minimum of two hours of compensation, called court pay, shall be paid to
commissioned police officers for court appearances when subpoenaed during off-duty
hours.
D. The City shall contribute to designated retirement and pension programs for
eligible employees an amount equal to ten per cent of base salary for sworn police
officers and four per cent of base salary for non-sworn police personnel and merit
employees.

In accordance with the Jefferson County Open Space Resolution,
the County, or its designated representative, may, if it so
desires, audit the work papers and audit utilized by the
City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado to determine the final cost
under the contract. This certification and request has been
duly authorized by Resolution #
863
adopted by the City
Council of Wheat Ridge, Colorado on October 10, 1983, a copy
of which is attached, by which the City Council of Wheat Ridge
certifies to the Board of County Commissioners of Jefferson
County that the Open Space funds specified herein will be
expended only for the purposes stated and authorizes the Mayor
of the City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado to sign this Request for
Payment and Certification of Use of Funds.
