RESOLUTION NO. 1155
Series of 1989
TITLE:
RESOLUTION DISCONTINUING THE USE OF STYROFOAM PRODUCTS
IN CITY OWNED BUILDINGS.
WHEREAS, The City of Wheat Ridge recognizes its
responsibility to the citizens in reducing solid waste; and
WHEREAS, Styrofoam products have been proven to be non-
biodegradable; and
WHEREAS, the costs of alternative products are not
prohibitive; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge wishes to set an
example for the businesses and citizens of Wheat Ridge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council for
the City of Wheat Ridge, that once the present supply of non-
biodegradable food handling products have been exhausted:
1. No more monies of the City be used to purchase styrofoam
(or non-biodegradable) products for use in City Hall or other
city owned buildings; and
2. The city only purchase food handling products made of
fiberboard or recyclable biodegradable materials.
