HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/25/1977 MINUTES - CITY COUNCIL MEETING July 25, 1977 The three-hundred seventy-second regular meeting of the Wheat Ridge City Council was called to order by Mayor Frank Stites at 7 00 P m at 4355 Field Street Councilmen present were Mary Jo Cavarra, Joseph Donaldson, Robert Howard, Calvin Hulsey, Larry Merkl, and Louise Turner Also present were City Attorney Maurice Fox, City Clerk Carol Hampf and Director of Community Development Dennis Zwagerman The purpose of the meeting was the Applicant's presentation re Petition by West Aspen Company for Annexation of certain property all within the County of Jefferson for inclusion within the corporate boundaries of the City of Wheat Ridge Said property is located between W 26th Ave and W 32nd Ave, immediately east of Kipling Street Annexation No 7, and Application by West Aspen Company for approval of initial zoning of property in process of Annexation to the City of Wheat Ridge and for approval of Outline Devel- opment Plan for a Planned Commercial Development Said property is located between W 26th Ave and W 32nd Ave, immediately east of Kipling Street Case No WZ-77-02 A verbatim record of the proceedings was taken by Linda Breech Leo N Bradley, Attorney at Law, 1717 Washington Avenue, Golden, Colorado, appeared on behalf of the Applicant Robert H Sonheim, Attorney at Law, 7720 West 57th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado, appeared in behalf of Jeffco Citizens United Mr Bradley called the following people to speak in favor of the Application Mr Paul Rodden, Counsel to the Texas International Company Mr Wendell 0 Steward, President of West Aspen Company Mr Ronald Hoisington, Planning Consultant with THK Associates, Inc Mr Robert Leigh of Leigh Associates, a consulting Engineering firm Mr Dwayne Pettijohn, Director of Economic Impact Development with THK Mr Bradley also presented a letter from Watson Bowes dated July 18, 1977 to be Exhibit 124, as well as Exhibits 103 through 112, 113, 114 & 119 Mr Sonheim questioned each speaker as they appeared and following Mr Sonheim's questions, Council also questioned each speaker Mr C W Reitler, 2577 Newcomb, Lakewood spoke in favor of the development, stating that he believes the plan gives optimum use and is compatible with the City He urged Council to approve the plan Neva Cahn, 2629 Quail, Lakewood also spoke in favor of the development, stating that she is concerned about the future of this area and that she no longer finds it practical to live in a single-family detached house and has been looking for housing of the type proposed Mayor Stites announced that the hearing was continued until tomorrow night, July 26, 1977 at 7 00 P m ,CC(I'-I' "/Ccc//L,/-)-r---.- Carol Hampf, City Clerk , APPROVED I ; ( 1 !~ ! i if,!
