HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1991-1264 RESOLUTION NO. 1264 SERIES OF 1991 TITLE: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE SETTING FORTH THE CITY COUNCIL'S REQUEST FOR DENIAL OF A PROPOSED REZONING FOR GRAVEL EXTRACTION PURPOSE AT THE SHEEP MOUNTAIN QUARRY WHEREAS, the proposal to operate the Sheep Mountain Quarry near Golden will be considered by the Jefferson County Planning Commission and recommendation made to the Board of County Commissioners; and WHEREAS, the location is functionally connected to the City of Wheat Ridge via Clear Creek, which runs through the site to Wheat Ridge and can thus affect down stream use, and by Colorado Highway 58, which intersects with Interstate 70 within the City of Wheat Ridge, and thus Wheat Ridge may be affected by increases in traffic, noise and emission pollution, and reduction of tranquility along the routes; and WHEREAS, this operation would destroy the quality of life and environment for all residents surrounding the Quarry and the municipalities, including Wheat Ridge; and WHEREAS, the proposed Sheep Mountain Quarry would increase the need for services by Lutheran Medical Center, and have a severe visual impact on the City of Wheat Ridge and surrounding municipalities; and WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Planning Commission's 20 requests for more information have not been answered satis- torily; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge, to respectfully request the Jefferson County Planning Commission to recommend denial and the Board of County Commissioners to deny the rezoning for the Sheep Mountain Quarry.
