RESOLUTION NO. 1266

TITLE: RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONGRESSIONAL SUPPORT TO
RE-AUTHORIZE SURFACE TRANSPORTATION ACT
WHEREAS, Congress is scheduled to re-authorize the
Surface Transportation Act; and
WHEREAS, re-authorization or extension of the current Act
is essential for the efficient movement of people and goods over
our nation's transportation network;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE THAT Congress be urged to re-authorize or
extend legislation specifically to:
1. Increase transportation funding;
2.

6. Provide a specific role for local governments in the
development of the National Highway System, the components of the
re-authorization package, and decision making on how funds are
spent in their jurisdiction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council hereby urges
Colorado's congressional delegation to support Senate bill 1204
version of the Surface Transportation Assistance Act of 1991.
