SERIES 1995
TITLE:
A Resolution to support the acquisition of 60 acres,
more or less, of property known as the Crown Hill
Property located east of Crown Hill Park in Jefferson
County, and authorizing the use of City of Wheat Ridge
attributable share of the Open Space Fund for a portion
of the purchase.
WHEREAS, Crown Hill Park is a heavily used park and
is in need of expanding to accommodate the uses; and
WHEREAS, 60 acres, more or less, has been offered
for sale by SCI Management Corporation east of Crown
Hill Park; and
WHEREAS, The Jefferson County Open Space Committee
has recommended to the Board of county commissioners
the acquisition of the 60 acres, more or less, at $1.30
per square foot, and
WHEREAS, Jefferson County has requested the City of
Wheat Ridge and the City of Lakewood each pay 25% of
the acquisition cost from their attributable share of
the Open Space Fund or other funds.
Now therefore be it Resolved by the City of Wheat Ridge City
council that:
1) The City of Wheat Ridge supports the acquisition of
approximately 60 acres of property said acreage to be
determined upon the final survey of property located
east of Crown Hill Park.
2) The City of Wheat Ridge agrees to pay 25% of the
purchase price, for said 60 acre parcel of property,
not to exceed $850,000 plus interest from the City's
attributable share of the Open Space Fund over a seven
(7) year period beginning in 1995. Any grant funds
received for this acquisition be subtracted from the
purchase price before the 25% share is calculated.
3) The three participating agencies (Wheat Ridge,
Lakewood, and Jefferson County) shall enter into an
intergovernmental agreement which shall define a public
input process to determine the future uses of the
property and providing that each of the governing
bodies approve the development plan.
4) The City of Wheat Ridge recommends the expansion of
Crown Hill Open Space Park to be used as a buffer,
natural area and wildlife habitat preservation,
community separator, and urban open space and is
suitable for passive recreation including walking and
wildlife viewing.
