RESOLUTION NO. 1520
Series of 1996
TITLE:
A RESOLUTION REGARDING PENDING LEGISLATION FOR LIQUOR
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge through the Wheat Ridge
City Council is involved in liquor licensing; and
WHEREAS, it is a high priority of the Wheat Ridge city
Council acting as the liquor authority to assure that all licensees
comply with all local and state liquor licensing provisions; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been an advocate of
stronger and more effective liquor licensing provisions so as to
increase the possibility of compliance with state and local
regulations and to help insure that problems do not arise with
licensed establishments; and
WHEREAS, House Bill 1224 and House Bill 1282 as
introduced would weaken current liquor license requirements and the
city's ability to regulate the activities of licensees;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Wheat Ridge City
Council hereby expresses its opposition to House Bill 1224 which
would severely limit the City and the City's Police Department's
ability to make unannounced underage alcohol purchase sting
operations; and House Bill 1282 which eliminates the ability of the
licensing authority to consider the health, safety, and general
welfare of the surrounding neighborhood when considering license
renewals.
DONE AND RESOLVED this 12th day of February, 1996.
