TITLE. A RESOLUTION TN SUPPORT OF COLORADO STATE HISTORICAL FUND
GRANT APPLICATION FOR FUNDS FOR THE ST ABlLlZA nON AND
PRESERVATION OF THE BAUGH HOUSE, A LOCALLY DESIGNATED
HISTORIC STRUCTURE.
WHEREAS, the Baugh House is located at 11361 West 44lh Avenue III the City of Wheat
Ridge, and
WHEREAS, the House, named for Its onginal owner/builder IS a late Victonan clapboard
farm house which consists of a 1-1/2 story hand hewn, v-notched log cabin with an attached stone
aggregate cold storage room, and
WHEREAS, the log cabm portion of the house apparently dates from 1859 and the
clapboard house apparently dates from about 1890; and
WHEREAS, the log cabin may be the oldest log cabm currently in existence in the City of
Wheat Rtdge and the State of Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the real property has been undisturbed, except for agricultural purposes; and
WHEREAS, m May, 1994, a fire occurred at the Baugh House resulting III damage to the
building; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Rtdge acquired the Baugh House on July 21, 1997 for the
purpose of the preservatlOn of the histone structure, and
WHEREAS, the Wheat Ridge Histoncal SoclCty has found that the Baugh House to be of
sigmficant hlstoncal value
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT
The City of Wheat Rtdge requests the Colorado Histoncal Society fund Its grant
applicatlOn for the Baugh House for the following purposes.
A, Stabilization efforts to the fire damaged house; and
B Preservation efforts and use of the structure and real property
