SERIES OF 1999
TITLE: A RESOLUTION REQUESTING JEFFERSON COUNTY OPEN SPACE
TO PURCHASE THE COORS PROPERTY LOCATED WEST OF 1-70
AND SOUTH OF CLEAR CREEK FOR PARKS AND RECREA nON
PURPOSES AS A COUNTY REGIONAL PARK.
WHEREAS. Central Jefferson County is 111 need of a regIOnal park which may ll1clude but not
lllmted to a natural area, wildlife habitat, multI-use trails. piCniC areas. npanan
areas. and lakes, and
WHEREAS, there IS sufficient vacant land available west ofI-70 and south of Clear Creek to
accommodated a regional park. and
WHEREAS. The property located west of! -70 and south of Clear Creek has excellent wildlife
habitat and npanan areas which ll1clude endangered speCies. and
WHEREAS. the ma]onty of the property IS owncd by thc Coors Brewmg Company With a
smaller portion owned by Jefferson County; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED BY THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE CITY
COUNCIL THAT
I) THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE REQUEST JEFFERSON COUNTY OPEN
SPACE ACQUIRE THE PROPERTY LOCATED WEST OF 1-70 AND SOUTH
OF CLEAR CREEK FOR PARKS AND RECREATION PURPOSES AS A
COUNTY REGIONAL PARK.
2) THE USES MAY INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO TIlE FOLLOWING
PICNIC SHELTERS. TURF PLA YFIELD/PASSIVE AREAS. NATURAL
AREAS. MULTI-USE lIARD SURFACE TRAILS. LAKES. AND WILDLIFE
HABITA T
3) ALL ACQUISITION COST BE 100% FROM THE JEFFERSON COUNTY
SHARE OF THE OPEN SPACE FUND
DONE AND RESOLVED THIS 14th DAY OF MAY 1999
