HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1999-0054 RESOLUTION NO.~ Series of 1999 TITLE: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO, REGARDING THE YEAR 2000 CENSUS WHEREAS, the Umted States government will be undertaking a natIonal census III the year 2000: and WHEREAS, the U.S Census Bureau has engaged local government in a sIgmficant way III the 2000 census to ensure accuracy and completeness; and WHEREAS, the Census is vital to our commumty m that It determIlles the apportIOnment of seats III the United States House of Representatives and the State Legislature, and is the basis for the allocation of bilhons of dollars of Federal, State, and county funds for transportation, social and other programs; and WHEREAS, the Census IS also used to help determIlle where to locate schools, day care centers. semor CItizen centers, hospItals, and other facilitIes and IS used to make declSlons concernmg busmess growth and jobs; and WHEREAS, Census IllformatIOn IS confidential and Federal law prohibIts any pub he or pnvate agency from gaIllmg access to confidentIal Census data, and WHEREAS, m Wheat Ridge, we are committed to a full and accurate Census count and are placmg special emphaSIS on enumerating members of population groups tradItIOnally undercounted, and WHEREAS, III Wheat RIdge, we are commItted to partnenng together with the U S Census Bureau in prepanng for Census 2000 through address lIst updates, census map corrections, and Junsdlctional boundary updates.
