TITLE'
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE WADSWORTH BYPASS/BURLINGTON
NORTHERN RAILROAD GRADE SEPARATION.
WHEREAS, The Wadsworth Bypass IS the single continuous north-south link In
JeHerson County, serving 58,000 vehicles per day currently and a prolected 68,000 vehicles
dady by the year 2020; and,
WHEREAS, ItS intersection with the Burlington Northern Rad (BNSF) line near
Grandvlew Avenue presents a malor Impediment to traHic flow and a hazard to automobile
and pedestnan traHic; and,
WHEREAS, trains cross the Wadsworth Bypass an average of 7 times per day,
creating traHic stoppages lasting anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes each time, degrading
regional air quality and needlessly consuming fossd fuels; and,
WHEREAS, these trains crossing can and do Impede vital emergency services,
disrupt the delivery of commercial goods and services, and disrupt traHic throughout the
region; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Arvada and the Colorado Department ofT ransportatlon
have completed a study Identifying and engineering solution to the aforementioned
concerns; and,
WHEREAS, the JeHerson County Transportation Network has Identified thiS
proJect as the Single most needed eXisting road Improvement in Jefferson County,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that'

The Mayor of the City of Wheat Ridge is hereby authOrIZed to execute
Resolution 12-. Q 0(0 '), supporting the Wadsworth Bypass/BNSF
Grade Separation,

The City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge supports and encourages
COOT to seek Federal funding for the deSign, environmental reView,
and construction of thiS prolect,
