HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-2002-0025 CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 2~-2002 Series of 2002 TITLE: A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION 20-2002, SUBMITTING A BALLOT QUESTION TO THE VOTERS OF THE CITY AT THE NOVEMBER 5, 2002 ELECTION, CONCERNING SALES TAX WHEREAS, the City Council has authority to refer ballot questions to the electorate; and WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted Resolution No. 20-2002, referring a ballot question to the electorate, and now wishes to amend the language of that question. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the ballot question language as adopted by Resolution 20-2002 be amended to read: SHALL THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE TAXES BE INCREASED $5,157,003 ANNUALLY COMMENCING IN 2003, AND BY WHATEVER ADDITIONAL AMOUNTS ARE RAISED ANNUALLY THEREAFTER, BY A SALES TAX RATE INCREASE OF ONE CENT, TO BE USED FOR EXPANSION OF SENIOR PROGRAMS, GENERAL DAILY SERVICES AND OPERATING EXPENSES, POLICE DEPARTMENT RADIO COMMUNICATIONS UPGRADE, STREETSCAPE PROJECTS, AND UTILITY UNDERGROUNDING, SUCH RATE INCREASE TO EXPIRE ON DECEMBER 31, 2007, AND SHALL THE CITY BE PERMITTED TO COLLECT AND SPEND THE REVENUES FROM SUCH INCREASE WITHOUT REGARD TO THE LIMITATIONS OF ARTICLE X, SECTION 20 OF THE COLORADO CONSTITUTION?
