HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/08/1979 CITY COUNCIL MINUTES CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO January 8, 1979 Mayor Phillips convened the meeting of the City Council at 7 35 pm, January 8, 1979 Council Members present Mary Jo Cavarra, Joseph M Donaldson, Anthony N Flasco, Gary L Lewman, Ray C Pepe, and Louise F Turner Also present City Clerk Carol F Hampf, City Administrator John A Jerman, City Attorney Edmund G Lambert, City Treasurer James 0 Malone, Department Heads Douglas Hilyard, Clyde E Hobbs, Charles Stromberg, staff, and interested citizens Ordinances on First Reading Item 1 Ordinance amending Section 4-1 and Section 4-6 of the Code of the City (Chapter 4 Animals and Fowl See 4-1 Definitions, and Sec 4-6 Cruelty or inhumane treatment) Introduced by Mrs Turner, numbered 315 and title read by Clerk MOTION by Mrs Turner "I move that this ordinance be approved on first read- ing, and the public hearing night be January 22, and that the ordinance, if passed on second reading, be effective fifteen days following publication, following final reading", seconded by ~1rs Cavarra, carried 6-0 Item 2 Ordinance imposing a Business and Occupation Tax on Telephone Uility Companies operating within the City of Wheat Ridge Providing for the collection of said Taxes and for Penalties with respect thereto Introduced by Mrs Cavarra, numbered 316 and title read by Clerk MOTION by Mrs Turner "I move that ordinance 316 be approved on first read- ing, that a public hearing be set for January 22nd, and if approved, the ordinance become effective one day after final publication", seconded by Mr Pepe, carried 6-0 (Addition to the published agenda) Item 3 Mr Hobbs, Director of Public Works, referring to his memo to the City Administrator, discussed the needed right-of-way for the Bikeway/Path- way (W 32nd Ave) and offer to dedicate twelve feet by Mr Brown at 10701 W 32nd Ave Council concerns regarded additional costs, width of the right-of- way, maintenance and cleaning of the requested irrigation pipe, possibility of an easement, and necessity for approval by the ditch owner before moving and piping the ditch Letter received from Mr Brasher, of the Colorado Department of Highways, regarding this bikeway/pathway was also mentioned MOTION by Mrs Turner "I move to have no action taken tonight and ha ve it on the agenda next wee k ", seconded by Mr Pepe, carried 6-0 Mr Hobbs was further requested to report back to Council the feelings of the other ditch owners on the prospect of a culvert rather than an open irrigation ditch MOTION by Mrs Cavarra to adjourn, seconded by Mr Pepe, meeting adjourned to Study Session / ...." /' I, c. :- l-A..J. _ "c_-t // ",,',j.-r- City Clerk Carol F Hampf // APPROVED ///5171 "" , t/l-
