MEETING REGARDING HAIL STOml OF JUNE 13, 1984
l1eeting was called to order by Councilmember Kent Davis He
thanked everyone for taking the time to come to the meeting and
explained the reason why he anu 1'1r Plasco had called the
meeting ~1r Flusco also thanked everyone for cominq and
acknowledged and thanyed Mayor Stites and Jack Prose for coming
Jacy Prose, Chief Building Inspector, reported we had made
application with DODES, Division of Disaster Emergency Services
of the State of Colorado, and that under the State Statutes they
have certain procedures they must follow to get disaster aiu
At this time based what was brought in here they doubt very much
that they would asy the Governor to declare that would bring in
Pederal Assistance lie also had forms that victims should fill
out vi'ith the amount of loss, market value of loss, replacement
value, and whether covered by insurance and turn the forms into
his office They will be reviewed along with the other cities
involved and then the determination will be made as to whether
to asy the Governor to get things set up so that we can at least
get the Small Business Administration Loans
Brad Hughes, 6160 ~Iest 47th Place, was concerned with getting
help with insurance companies He also complimented the 11ayor
and all employees in helpinq out cleaning up and hoped all the
marks made on their lawns would be taken care of Ilr Davis
felt any damage done by City, clean up was one area they had
committed themselves too
Michael O'Brien, 7190 West 32nd Avenue, was concerned mainly
with the drainage problems since getting the cutters finished
Allan Bump, 3855 Harlan Street, was concerned with drainage,
flooding, anrl sewer l>ack up problems in their basement He also
received structure damage to his home
rir ]\lrs ~layard Gueutte, 6105 >Vest 47th Place, was concerned
with the drainage problems and reported he lost everything that
was in his basement and he will receive no lnsurance coverage
I'lr & 11rs Pelix Garcia, 6305 West 47th Place, was concerned
with drainage problems and feels they are only gettinq help this
time because of all the news coverage
1'1r Sellers 6265 vlest 46th Pluce, spoke for his mother-in-law
about the rlrainaqe problems In 18 years at living at this
address she has been flooded 5 times

G Robert Prewitt, 6403 West 44th Place, was concerned with the
problems with the drainage problems Pelt a lot of the flooding
problems was caused by the City truck that dumped the hot mix
and gravel mix making a dam across 44th place
Margaret Rencehausen, 6185 West 47th Place, was concerned that
the her insurance company will not cover her loss as they are
sayiny it was flood damaGe
Alice Walter, 6240 West 47th Avenue, reported insurance company
will pay only part of roof, part of inside damage as the damage
was caused by water not hail She also lost her fence and one
of her ~lm trees has its roots exposed and is afraid it will
fall down
~lr Flasco read a letter from John Chatman into the record
Carl J Scaglione, 6355 West 47th Place, was concerned with the
drainaqe problems
Joyce McKinnies, 6225 West 47th Place, Ir/as concerned with the
drainage problems She had received structure damage to her
duplex and is having trouble with the insurance company
admittiny it was a hail storm and not flood damage She also
tllanked City employees for all their help
June Pry, 6235 vJest 46th Place, reported this was the 2nd time
in 4 years she had been flooded due to the drainage problems
r,er insurance company only will pay for part of loss as they
also feel it was flood damage
June !'lango, on behalf of her mother who resides at 6230 \'lest
47th Avenue, is also having trouble getting the lnsurance
company to admit to the hail storm
Gary Digcorgeo, property owner at 6245 and 6255 West 47th Place,
asked the City to come as quickly as possible to see what
coverage they would get as far as lawns and curbs and gutters
Jack Prose commented Bill Cassel was already there to see how
much sod was needed and they would do everything as quickly as
possible
John Larson, 786g West 46th Place, was concerned with the
drainage problems
Neil & Rita ROllins, 6210 West 47th Place,
employees, fire department, and the police
their help Was concerned about insurance

Jeff & Teresa Powers, 6225 ~Jest 47th Place, was concerned about
the drainage problems but doesn't feel the City was to blame in
a storm of this size lie also thanked his neighbor for savinq
his two chilrlren and thanyed the City for all their help
tJarv McKinley, 4675 Lamar Street, was concerned about the
orainaqe problems
Diane Long, 6380 West 46th Place, was also concernerl about the
drninage problems, and also about the retainer wall the the
water washed out She reported the City will not replace this
wall and feels every time the water will rise she will get
flooded again
Gail Londono, 6255 West 46th Place, was concerned about the
drainage problems and reported the insurance company would not
pay for her furnace
Ruth & Art Cluff, 6235 West 47th Avenue, was concerned about the
sewer problems they have been having for the last 30 years
Fran Route, 7829 West 47th Avenue, reported that since they have
finished the drainage that the water flows into her home instead
of going over the yard into the park
John Rolf, 3700 Independence Street, was concerned with the
drainaqe problems
Tom P povilus, 10215 West 34th Avenue, thanked Councilmembers
Davis and FIasco for what they were doing her tonight
Discussed groups that could be organized to help victims with
understandinq insurance coverage and help they could receive
George l1azzoccor, 6811 West 47th Avenue, discussed the drainage
problems
Councilmembers Davis and Flasco thanked everyone for taking the
time to come to the meetinq Mayor Stites also thanked everyone
for the cooperation
Meetinq was adjourned
