A RESOLUTION APPROVING TH E RENEWAL AND AMENDMENT
OF AN INT ERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT FOR AMBULANCE
SERVICES AMONG THE C ITY OF WHEAT RI DGE , THE WHEAT
RIDGE FIRE PROTECTION D ISTRICT AND RURAU METRO OF
CENTRAL CO L ORADO DBA PR IDEMARK PARAMEDIC
SERV ICES , LLC.
WHEREAS , the City of Wheat Ridge , Colorado (the "City), acting th rough its City
Council ("Council") is a home rule municipality with statutory and constitutional authority
to enact ordinances and enter into agreements for protection of the public health , safety
and welfare ; and
WHEREAS , in the exercise of that authority , effective January 1, 2012 , the
Council approved an Intergovernmental Agreement {the "IGA") among the City , the
Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District (the "District") and Rural Metro Ambulance -
Pridema rk Paramedic Services , LLC ("Pridemark") for the provision of ambu lance
services within the City bounda ries ; and
WHEREAS, to ensure adequate emergency ambulance serv ice , the Council
desires to renew the IGA for an additiona l year for calendar year 2013; and
WHEREAS, the parties to the IGA also w ish to i nclude the C ity of Edgewater int o
the District's defined response area for ambulance service ; and
WHEREAS, Section 14 .2 of the Wheat Ridge Home Rule Charter authorizes the
Council, acting by resolution or ord inance, to enter into contracts or agreeme nts with
other governmental units or special districts for joint use of bui ldings, equipment,
facilities , or for furnishing or receiving commodities or services .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Wheat Ridge C ity Council, that:
Section 1. The Council hereby approves renewal of the Intergovernmental
Agreement for ambulance serv ices between t he City of Wheat Ridge , the Wheat Ridge
Fire Protection Dis trict, and Pridemark Paramedic Services , LLC fo r the 20 13 calendar
year; the Counci l also approves th e amendment of Section 2 .2 , Recitals & Pu rposes , to
i nclude the City of Edgewater within the response area of the District , all as shown on
the amendment attached hereto as Exhibi t A .
This Reso lution shall be effective i mmediately.
