A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBM ISSION OF AN
ENVI RONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY 201 4 BROWNFIELDS
CLEAN -UP GRANT APPLICATION
WHEREAS , the City of Wheat Ridge , acting through its City Council , entered into
an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Wheat Ridge Urban Renewal Authority dba
Renewal Wheat Ridge (RWR) for the purchase of property at 7690 W. 38 th Avenue and
3790 Yukon Court ; and
WHEREAS , the site contains undergrou nd soil and groundwater environmental
contamination of which RWR desires to remediate ; and
WHEREAS , the site is an important property in an overall vision for
redevelopment of the southwest corner of 38 th a nd Wadsworth ; and
WHEREAS , RWR and the City desire to remediate the site for future
development and blight removal ; and
WHEREAS , RWR desires to apply for a $200 ,000 U .S. EPA Brownfields Clean-
Up Grant; and
WHEREAS , the EPA requires public notification and an opportunity to comment
on the site remediation and the grant application ; and
WHEREAS , a notice of a public hearing was placed in a newspaper of public
general distribution for two public comment periods ; one on December 11 , 2013 and
another on January 13, 201 4 .
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED by the C ity Counc i l of Wheat Ridge,
Colorado, as follows:
A. The City Council authorizes the submittal of an application for a U.S. EPA
Brownfields Clean-Up Grant.
