TITLE : A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2014 CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM BUDGET TO REFLECT THE
APPROVAL OF A SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET APPROPR IATION IN
THE AMOUNT OF $450 ,000 FOR THE 32N° AVENUE WIDENING
PROJ ECT
WHEREAS , in March 2011 , the City was awarded a federal grant for a widening
project on 32"d Avenue from Braun Court to Wright Court; and
WHEREAS , on N ovember 7, 2012 , Concrete Works of Colorado was awa rded a
contact in the amount of $4 ,600 ,776 with a contingency of $4 60 ,000 ; and
WHEREAS , the original contract budget has been exceeded by an estimated
amount of $1 .2 million due to extensive subgrade excavation , retaining wall redesign
and additional construction , unforeseen utility relocations , additional temporary signals
and traffic control and additional quantity over runs and work item ; and
WHEREAS, a substantial port ion of the budget overage is under d ispute
between t he contractor and t he City; and
WHEREAS , City Council desires to offer a final contact settlement agreement
with Concrete Works in the amount of $4 50 ,000.
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counci l of the City of Wheat Ridge,
Colorado , that:
A. The City of Wheat Ridge fiscal year 2014 C IP Bud get be amended acco rdi ngly,
s p ecifically transf e rri ng $4 50,000 from General Fund unreserved f u nd b ala nce to
account number 30-303-800-841 .
