HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 55, 2021CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 55-2021 Series of 2021 TITLE: A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE JEFFERSON COUNTY MULTI- HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN 2021 UPDATE WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge is a home rule municipality operating under a charter approved by its electors and governed by its City Council; and WHEREAS, natural hazards in Jefferson County have historically caused significant disasters with losses of life and property and natural resources damage, and WHEREAS, under the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, an adopted multi- hazard mitigation plan is required to be updated every five years as a condition of future funding for mitigation projects under multiple FEMA pre- and post-disaster mitigation grant programs; and WHEREAS, undertaking hazard mitigation actions will reduce the potential for harm to people and property from future hazard occurrences; and WHEREAS, a comprehensive update to an approved Multi-hazard Mitigation Plan has been prepared in accordance with FEMA requirements 44 C.F.R. 201.6, and WHEREAS, The City of Wheat Ridge has fully participated in the FEMA prescribed mitigation planning process to prepare this comprehensive update to the approved Multi- hazard Mitigation Plan; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, as follows: Section 1. The City Council adopts the 2021 Update to the Jefferson County Multi- Hazard Mitigation Plan as this jurisdiction’s Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan and resolves to execute the actions in the Plan.
