As per your request, we made a site visit to the refenced project to review the existing roof framing to verify
the adequacy to support the new RTU on the roof. The approximate age of the project is 61 years, the
existing bar joists are 28 -inch -deep spanning 50'-0 and spaced at S'-6 on center, we measured the chords
and webs and determined from historic data from 511 that the joists are either 28tA08 or 28tA09 and the
wide flange steel girder is a W 18x50 spanning 27'6 with articulation of 5'-0 over the columns. Based on the
information from Edifice Builders that the new Trane 410-A RTUs weigh 1058 pounds each, we analyzed the
joists as the 28LA08 per the current IEBC and the existing members satisfy the code. Based on the final curb
locations with respect to the joist top chord panel points, a web stiffener may be required per the attached
detall.
