Please see below for a description of the partition walls. Wall 1: New studs are attached to the floor slab and the top track is screwed to the existing partition wall near the ceiling grid. The existing partition wall extends up to and is connected to the roof deck. The floor slab and roof deck provide bracing for the partition wall. The ceiling grid also provides some bracing to the partition wall. Therefore, this partition wall is stable and adequately supported. Wall 2: Wall 2 consists of a portion of full height studs, extending from the floor slab up to the framing of the Level 2 storage area. New studs are also attached to a partial height existing partition wall and extend up to the Level framing. The bottom track of the new studs is screwed to the top track of the existing partial height wall. This provides continuity along the height of the wall. The wall is adequately braced at the top by the connection to the Level 2 framing and at the bottom by the floor slab or the connection to the existing partial height wall, which is connected to the floor slab. Wall 3: Wall a consists of an existing curved partial height partition wall and a short segment of wall near the calling grid. The short segment of existing wall extends up above the ceiling and attaches to the Level 2 bar joists. New studs are attached to the floor slab and attach at the top to the existing short wall segment. In the curved portion of the wall, new studs are lap spliced onto the existing studs of the partial height wall and attached at the top to the existing short wall segment. The lap splice provides continuity between the new and existing studs as does the screwed connection between the top and bottom tracks of the new and existing walls. The wall is adequately braced at the bottom by the floor slab and at the top by the connection to the bar joists. Thecurvedgeometryof the wall also provides lateral stability.
