TITLE:
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A ONE-HALF CENT INCREASE IN
THE CITY'S SALES AND USE TAX FOR PURPOSES OF EXPANDING
AND RENOVATING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BUILDING AND
REPLACING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S COMMUNICATION SYSTEM.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE,
COLORADO, THAT:
Section 1: Tax Levv. Pursuant to voter approval at the November
8, 1994 election on ballot question number Issue 2B, there is
hereby levied by the Wheat Ridge City council, a one-half cent
increase in the City'S sales and use tax effective January 1, 1995.
Section 2: Tax Duration. The one-half cent increase in the City'S
sales and use tax shall remain in effect until the earlier of the
collection of $2.5 million from said increase in sales and use tax
or December 31, 1996.
section 3: Tax Purpose. The proceeds from the one-half cent
increase in sales and use tax shall be segregated into a separate
fund of the city. said funds shall only be used for constructing
an addition to the police Department building, renovating the
existing Police Department office areas, replacing the Police
Department radio communications system and related expenditures.
Section 4: Safetv Clause. This ordinance is promulgated pursuant
to voter approval for a one-half cent increase in the sales and use
tax of the City of Wheat Ridge for the purposes enumerated in this
ordinance and to further the health, safety and welfare of the
public.
Section 5: Severabilitv. If any clause, sentence, paragraph or
part of this ordinance or the application thereof shall for any
reason be judged by a court of competent jurisdiction invalid, such
judgement shall not affect, impair or invalidate the remainder of
this ordinance or its application.

7500 W. 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
