Series of 1969 WIiEREAS, The City of Wheat Ridge has completed incorporation proceedings and the municipal government is in operation. WHEREAS, certain fire districts presently provide fire protection services to The City to wit: Arvada Fire Protection District, Prospect Valley Fire Protection District, and Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District. WHEREAS, it is desirable that a uniform, efficient fire protection service be provided residents of the City whether said service be provided by the City or by the Districts. WIlEREAS, certain problems may exist in coordinating and making uniform fire protection service by virtue of the three special districts providing [ire protection service to the City. WHEREAS, certain plans should be made to insure coordinated future plans for fire protection to the city. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RES01NED that a 'v/heat Ridge Fire Steering Committee be appointed by the Mayor to make a thorough and complete study of the situation on the following terms and conditions~' (1) Responsibility: Determine how uniform fire protection for the City of Wheat Ridge can be implemented; whether improved fire protection is necessery; determine the economic feasibility of any changes recommended. (2) Powers: The Fire Steering Committee is impowered to appoint as many subcommittees as nay be needed to develop facts required for a sound decision and to call on voluntary witnesses. (3) Support: Reasonable secretarial help, publications and supplies will be provided through the city Director of Administrative Services. .~ 4"". ".:. /PES ,;:;;;-:-/T (d.-) . (4) OrgaDization: (a) The Wheat Ridge City Council is herewith establishing a 7 man Fire Steering Committee including three Fire Board Presidents or their alternates and four citizens as follows: Fire chiefs \vill be ex-officio members of the Fire Steering Committees. (b) At its first meeting the Fire Steering Committee will elect from its citizen members a chairman and a vice chairman. A secretary will be elected to take minutes of all meetings which will become part of the final reports. Minutes will reflect all motions and actions taken but omit discussion leading to the motion or action. (5) Duration: The Fire Steering Committee will complete its action in six months and will at that time schedule a public meeting with City Council to present both an oral and written report. (6) The Report: In addition to attachments which include minutes of its meetings, the Fire Steering Committee will provide the following data in its report: Part I. Tile Present outline of current organization, equipment, manpower, costs, capabilities, ratings, history, etc. Part II. ,lternates (a) Possible alternates to current organization, manning and equipment, to include specific recommendations from each fire district. (b) Evaluation of the present organization and alternates including Wheat Ridge community opinion surveys in each fire district area. Part III. Future Trends -- A study of building and other trends which would affect future fire needs. Part IV. Findings Recommendations, signed by Steering Committee members concuring. If there is a minority report, it will be included and signed by members not concuring with the majority recommendations. Part V.
