HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1969-0031 RESOLUTION NO. 31 S2cies of 1969 WHEREAS, the new city of Wheat Ridge comes into existence with a city street system to be maintained and improved. WHEREAS, no records concerning initial construction quality or continuing maintenance are on file with the city. WHEREAS, drainage is a problem of record a~d of long standing. WHEREAS, traffic flow is a recognized problem in some areas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT a Streets, Drainage, and Traffic Englneering Steering Committee be established for a one-time effort to assemble required data, high light problem3, and recommend priorities, the committee to operate in accordance with the following: 1. Responsibility. Make a complete survey o~ the existing street, drainage and traffic situation and facilities in the new city of Wheat Ridge and report its findings and recommendations to the city council. 2. Powers. The Steering Committee is empowered to name as many subcommittees as are appropriate to its assigned tasks and will participate with the Personnel Committee in screening City Engineering and Traffic Engineering candidates. 3. Support. The Director of Administrative Services will provide secretarial support as r8quired for the committee to produce any interim report and the final report. Expenses of the Committee will be paid by the city provided prior council approval has be8n obtained. 4. Organization. At the first meeting, the committee will elect a chairman, a vice chairman to act in the absence of the chairman and a secretary to maintain minutes of all actions taken. The minutes taken by the secretary will become a ilermanent attachment to the fInal report. An early determination will be made concerning subcommittees to be named. ,fE-s "7' ~"/ (.;;>..) 5. Duration. The committee will complete all assigned work in one year following activation. A series of individual reports are required, as follows: A. Report street patching by location which should be done at the earliest possible date for driving safety. B. Street Condition Survey Report reflecting layman evaluation of 1970 street needs by location (overlag, rebuild, seal- crJat, etc.) and priori ty. C. New street needs report reflecting layman recommenda- tions for right of w~y procurement and street opening. D. Recommend priorities for existing and future federal, state and county roads within the City. E. Report on existing and required traffic signals in the city giving recommended priorities for action over a 5-year period. F. Assemble as much data as is available on Wheat Ridge drainage problems and develop recommended priority for problem correction. 5. The Reoort. , The final report will consist of the individual reports plus the following to be presented orally and as a written report to the City Council: Part I. Evaluation--Make an evaluation after 11 months of the action taken by all affected agencies with respect to each individual report; that is, Street Patching, Street Condition, New Street Needs, Federal, S_ate and County roads, Traffic Signals and Drainage. Part II. Future Trends--Assemble and evaluate data with respect to future growth trends as they may affect streets, traffic flow and drainage. - 2 - / -' ) ~{-E ~ 77_/ ';> ( ~ ~ RESOLVED this 25th day of November, A.
