HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1970-0061 RESOLUTION NO. ~~ Series of 1970 WHEREAS, Lutheran Hospital is important to the entire Metro area, to Jefferson County and to Wheat Ridge. WHEREAS, 11.4% of Hospital usage is by Wheat Ridge residents, 48.5% by other Jefferson County residents, and 40.1% by persons outside Jefferson County. WHEREAS, Wheat Ridge is a newly organized City with limited resources. WHEREAS, crowded Hospital conditions which now exist are the result of growth in the entire Metro area as a whole and JeffersQn County in particular. WHEREAS, an immediate need for Hospital expansion now exists and is planned, but cannot be completed without assurance that drainage problems will be resolved. WHEREAS, representatives of cities in Jefferson County as represented at the Jefferson County Governments Association on April 27, 1970 indicated a recognition of the importance of the Hospital to their area and a desire to support its continued growth. WHEREAS, the County of Jefferson has to date spent approximately $3oo,00~ on constructing the first portions of the project that is designed to provide proper storm drainage for Lutheran Hospital; the Colorado Department of Highways has spent approximately $75,000. toward completing this project; the new City of Wheat Ridge since its incorporation, August 20, 1969, has spent approximately $40,000. toward the completion of this project, WHEREAS, Jefferson County with county-wide taxing powers receives money also from cities and is the logical source of funds to assist Wheat Ridge in solving the drainage problem which existed long before the City was incorporated, =- ",c'~s c-/ (-:;) NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT this City Council pledges to do all within its powers to provide adequate drainage for the Hospital prior to the completion of the planned addition and no later than 1972.
