RESOLUTION NO. 205
Series of 1972
WHEREAS, local law enforcement agencies have the responsibility
for handling crime and other situations necessitating crisis interven-
tion or protection; and
WHEREAS, the police administrators from the cities of Littleton,
Englewood, Aurora, Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, Thornton, Northglenn, Broom-
field, Edgewater, Sheridan, Commerce City, Brighton, Cherry Hills,
Arvada, and Westminster, not to the exclusion of other cities, have
organized themselves together for more effective law enforcement, said
organization to be known as "Regional Suburban Police Association"; and
WHEREAS, local law enforcement agencies in the Denver
metropolitan area are fragmented, resulting in duplication of efforts;
and
WHEREAS, the "Regi onal Suburban Poli ce Associ ati on" seek s to
overcome the disadvantages of fragmentation through cooperative efforts
among all law enforcement agencies in the Denver metropolitan area,
aimed at providing better service to the public; and
WHEREAS, one specific purpose of this organization shall be to
seek greater cooperation among all law enforcement agencies in the
Denver metropolitan area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO, as follows:
1. That the City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, hereby recognizes
the "Regional Suburban Police Association" and will
cooperate with and participate in the "Regional Suburban
Police Association" as it strives to better serve the public;
2. That the Chief of Police of the City of Wheat Ridge is to
cooperate with the "Regional Suburban Police Association"
in whatever efforts are necessary to effectively implement
programs with the "Regional Suburban Police Association"
insofar as these are consistent with the policies of the
City of Wheat Ridge and its Police Department.
