RESOLUTION NO. 253
Series of 1973
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has taken various actions
to acquire property located within the City along Clear Creek for
its Greenbelt Program; and
WHEREAS, property has been acquired for this purpose
between Wadsworth Boulevard and Kipling Street along Clear Creek; and
WHEREAS, two areas, one in the vicinity of West 44th and
Clear Creek, and one in the vicinity of Garland Street at Clear Creek
remain to be acquired to complete the area available for walkway; and
WHEREAS, the City is applying for $lO,OOO. (Ten Thousand and
No/lOO Dollars) from the State Trail Fund, and $10,000. (Ten Thousand
and No/IOO Dollars) from the Jefferson County Open Space Fund to
construct a Wheat Ridge bikeway trail system; and
WHEREAS, this system is Phase One of m e proposed Bikeway
Trails System and is located between Wadsworth Boulevard and Kipling
Street along Clear Creek; and
WHEREAS, it appears that certain funding anticipated by the
City will not be available unless the City acquires the two properties
that presently are not owned by the City in order to make a continuous
Trail System; and
WHEREAS, it is this Council's intent that the Wheat Ridge
Bikeway Trail System be acquired and constructed as proposed in Phase
One of the plan; and
WHEREAS, the City will have funding available to complete
the project from various sources;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: the City Council
direct the administrative officials of the City to take immediate
and appropriate action to acquire, through negotiation or otherwise,
those two parcels of land required to complete the System;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT: the appropriate State and
County officials be notified of our intent to acquire these
properties as soon as is reasonably possible so that the proposed
Trail System can be adequately constructed within a reasonable time.
DONE AND RESOLVED this 8th day of November
A.D., 1973 by a vote of the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge,
Colorado of 5 to 0
